Flood Watch Remains in Effect until Late Thursday

Wet weather is expected for the state from late tonight through late Thursday night. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for all the Hawaiian Islands due to a cold air mass approaching the state.

Forecasters say the system will bring areas of thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall by tonight. The system will move away on Thursday, but southeast winds will bring additional moisture, which could prolong the threat of heavy rain, particularly over windward areas and slopes facing southeast.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy showers and thunderstorms will be spotty and localized with one area flooding, and other places nearby remaining mostly dry.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. The public is advised to monitor forecasts for developments.
