Maui Tropical Soaps Donates 500 Pounds to Japan Relief

Maui Tropical Soaps is just one example of how many Maui businesses continue to find creative ways to donate products, supplies, and money to help in the Japan tsunami relief effort.

With more than 200 customers in the areas hardest hit in Japan, Maui Tropical Soaps recently announce their pledge of more than 500 pounds of soap to the victims in need and living in shelters.

“Sending the fresh glycerin soap is just one of the ways the company is giving to the people of Japan,” said the company’s CEO, Richard Stillman, in a written statement earlier last week.

The company has also implemented a “Buy One, Get One” program. For each soap a customer purchases, Maui Tropical Soaps will match their purchase by sending one bar of soap overseas. Maui Tropical Soaps’ “Buy One, Get One” program will be running through April.

“My hope is to bring a small bit of happiness into their lives amid such tragedy,” said Stillman. “There is so much I wish we could do for them, and with our customers’ help we can continue to contribute soap.”

The campaign also runs in Japan where people less affected can buy and support their less fortunate countrymen. According to their website, for every bar of soap sold in Japan in 2011, Maui Tropical Soaps will donate one bar of soap to a disaster survivor.

Found in 1996, Maui Tropical Soaps offers a line handmade bath and body products manufactured in Hawaii. The product lineup includes glycerin & cold-process soaps, lotions, butters, oils, salon-grade natural hair care products. Maui Tropical Soaps is unique in that it is reportedly one of only a few companies in the world that makes its own glycerin soap base, and is the only company of its size to do so.
