An estimated 1,200 students from various Maui County Schools attended a Student Transition Convention hosted by the non-profit Adult Friends for Youth program.

The convention, held at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, was designed to ease the anxieties of elementary students transitioning into middle school.  The program focuses on the physical and emotional changes of students who are making the transition from childhood to early adolescence.

The program included comments from Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa and participation from former American Idol contestant, Jordan Segundo.
