The injured man was operating a 2006 orange Honda motorcycle, and traveling east on Kaahumanu Avenue at the time of the crash.  The motorcyclist was struck by a 2005 silver four door Volkswagen that had entered the intersection while traveling northbound on Puunene Avenue.  The Volkswagen station wagon was operated by a 62-year-old Haiku man.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was initially treated at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, but was later transferred to the Queens Medical Center on Oahu.  He was still listed in critical condition at last report.

Maui police are investigating the involvement of speed, drugs or alcohol as possible factors in the crash.
