Ka’anapali Fire Burns Brush above Hanakao’o

Maui Firefighters are mopping up a blaze reported this afternoon mauka of Hanakao’o (Canoe Beach) in West Maui.   The brush fire was initially reported to be around 100 feet by 100 feet, but the exact size has yet to be determined.

Fire Services Chief, Lee Mainaga said the blaze was located above the golf course in an area of brush.  At 12:10 p.m., the fire was contained, and crews were in the mop up stages of their operation.

Responding to the scene were Ladder 3, Engine 3, Engine 11, Mini 11 and Tanker 10.
