Four acres of brush were burned in a brush fire at Keopuolani Park on Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. and was located near the Boys and Girls Club off of Kanaloa Avenue in Kahului.

The facility was evacuated, but no damages or injuries were reported.

Fire officials say the blaze was brought under control by 5 p.m. and extinguished by 5:50 p.m.

Maui firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from an area of brush at Keopuolani Park on Thursday afternoon.

Residents in the area reported seeing smoke at around 3:37 p.m., and said it appeared to be coming from the area east of the Boys and Girls Club in Kahului.

At 3:54 p.m., white smoke could be seen in the section of the park located west and mauka of the park ball fields and park roadway.  Fire trucks, including Engine 10 from Kahului, remained on scene at last report.
