Weekend Round-Up: Plantation Days, Job & Food Fairs

LAHAINA PLANTATION DAYS 2011 Saturday October 22 from 5-10 p.m. $3 daily admission. Located at the Old Pioneer Mill grounds under the smokestack.
This annual event will feature food booths, a beer and wine garden, carnival games, children’s horseback riding, Hawaiian and Japanese cultural areas, a farmer’s market, historical displays, plantation exhibits, and island music including Da Braddahs, Makaha Sons and Na Wai Ho’olu’u o ke Anuenue.
Lahaina Plantation Days is a celebration of the lives of the people who worked during Lahaina’s plantation era from 1860 to 1999.
Events will take place surrounding the restored Pioneer Mill Company smokestack, which also serves as a central feature for the event. The walkway encircling the base of the smoke stack is paved with bricks which are engraved with the names of the community and logos of supporting businesses.
PACIFIC RADIO GROUP JOB FAIR Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m at the Queen Kaahumanu Center in Kahului.
For those seeking jobs in Maui, the PRG Job Fair is an excellent opportunity to find employment offered from several Maui businesses.
Jobs offered at the fair will include part time, full time, and seasonal positions.
Job seekers are suggested to bring resumes, but some employers may provide on-site interviews as well as applications.
MAUI CULINARY ACADEMY’S 15th ANNUAL NOBLE CHEF “A FOOD AFFAIR” EVENT Saturday, October 22. Reception begins at 5:30 p.m at the Fairmont Kea Lani. Tickets $150 per person. Sponsorship opportunities: $2500 for a Patron Sponsorship (table of 10) and $5000 for a Premiere Sponsorship (table of 10).
University of Hawaii Maui College’s award winning Culinary Arts Program will host their 15th consecutive Noble Chef event at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea.
The Noble Chef will feature the students and faculty of Maui Culinary Academy working alongside local celebrity chefs in a mentorship-aligned fundraiser for culinary education, student career advancement and community service.
Students will work side-by-side with the top chefs for hands-on training as they prepare meals for the event’s guests.
In addition to the dining experience, a live and silent auction will be held including chef’s dinners from the top chefs on the island, luxury accommodations, home dinner parties, sailing adventures and more.
