High Surf ADVISORY For North Shore
By Madeline Ziecker
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for the north facing shores of Maui which will be in effect until 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 10.
A growing northwest swell will result in dangerous surf on exposed shores, along with rip currents and localized beach erosion.
Surf will build Wednesday night and reach grand heights of 16-22 feet starting on Thursday with a gradual decline through the weekend.
Shorelines will remain hazardous to north shore beach-goers, who are strongly cautioned to stay out of the water and away from shore break.
Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates as they come.
