No Threat Found Following Maui Mall Evacuation
By Wendy Osher
An estimated 280 patrons were evacuated from the Maui Mall on Saturday night as Maui Police conducted an investigation into a bomb threat.
Maui Police Lt. Wayne Ibarra said the call came in at 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012.
Upon investigation, no suspicious devices were found, said Lt. Ibarra.
The decision to evacuate, he said, was issued by mall management. Patrons to the Maui Mall Megaplex said it appeared as though the focus of the search was in theater area.
Both the Maui Police and the Fire Department’s Engine-10 from Kahului responded to the incident. An all clear was given at 8:53 p.m.
