Chief Flips Pancakes on Maui for National Fundraiser
By Wendy Osher
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ CEO John Lauck will be flipping pancakes for guests at the IHOP restaurant at the Maui Mall next week in celebration of National Pancake Day.
The fundraiser on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 is part of a national campaign to raise awareness and funds for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
During the fundraiser, guests are invited to make a voluntary donation for each short stack of buttermilk pancakes that is served.
Nationally, the IHOP restaurant chain hopes to raise $3 million this year, with a goal to bring the total amount of funds raised for children’s charities to more than $13 million.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds for 170 nonprofit children’s hospitals across North America, which, in turn, use the money where it’s most needed.
When a donation is given, it stays in the community, helping local kids. Donations in the past have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care.
The Maui event will take place from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on February 5th at the IHOP located at 70 E. Kaahumanu Ave. Lauck will participate in the Maui event at 2 p.m. on the same day.
Since the inception of National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP has raised more than $10 million and given away more than 14 million pancakes to support charities in the communities in which it operates.
National Pancake Day 2012 was IHOP’s largest one-day event in the company’s 54-year history.
