Strong Winds Continue in Maui County
By Wendy Osher
A wind advisory continues for Lana’i, Maui and Kaho’olawe until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
East winds of 25 to 30 mph are expected, with localized gusts of over 45 mph.
Forecasters from the National Weather Service say advisory winds will be located in areas exposed to the trade winds, over mountain tops and through gaps.
The strong and gusty trade winds are the result of a high pressure system far north of the state.
As a precaution, the public is advised to secure any loose object that may become airborne, or move the items indoors.
The NWS notes that winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
