A structure fire at a home in Wailuku caused an estimated $15,000 in damage and forced the closure of a portion of Vineyard Street while emergency crews responded to the scene.

The incident was reported at around 11:54 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the corner of Church and Vineyard Streets.

The fire was confined to a bedroom of a small 25-foot by 25-foot home located at the rear of Saeng’s Thai Cuisine Restaurant, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

The fire was brought under control at 12:03 p.m., and was extinguished shortly after, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire was classified as “undetermined,” however FS Chief Mainaga said it is was most likely accidental.  No injuries were reported.

Responding units from the Department of Fire and Public Safety included Hazmat personnel from Kahului and an Engine crew from Wailuku.

Personnel from the Maui Police Department and medics also responded to the incident.
