The Outlets of Maui, a retail and restaurant center under construction in the space once occupied by the former Lahaina Center, is scheduled for a soft opening next month, visitor industry officials confirmed.

According to information contained in a news bulletin issued by the Maui Visitors Bureau, The Outlets of Maui will open for business on Nov. 21, with a grand opening scheduled for Dec. 6, 2013.

The center will house an estimated 35 retail shops and restaurants, including Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, and Michael Kors, the announcement said.

Johnson Capital, the real estate firm that arranged for the $19.5 million loan secured by the center, released information earlier this year, noting that the 145,855 square feet of retail space will also include a Brooks Brothers and Calvin Klein.

At the time, the firm noted that developer, Honu Group of Honolulu would retain the Hard Rock Cafe and Ruth’s Chris steak house.

The property, located at the corner of Pāpalaua and Front Streets in Lahaina, underwent architectural enhancements in recent months as part of the transformation.

The Outlets of Maui is being marketed as the second outlet location in the state, and the first on Maui.
