Maui Restaurants and Resorts Earn AAA Diamond Status

Two Maui hotels earned Five Diamond and nine earned Four Diamond ratings in an annual list released today by AAA Hawaiʻi.

The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua and Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea were joined by Hawaiʻi Island’s Four Seasons Resort Hualālai at Historic Kaʻūpūlehu in the elite list of just three Hawaiʻi resorts earning Five Diamond ranking.

Maui resorts earning Four Diamond status included: the Travaasa Hotel Hāna; Honua Kai Resort & Spa; Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa; The Westin Kāʻanapali Ocean Resort Villas; Four Seasons Resort Lānaʻi at Mānele Bay; Four Seasons Resort Lānaʻi, The Lodge at Koele; Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort; The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui; and Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

The Maui resorts made up nearly half of the list, which included a total of 20 resorts in the Four Diamond category.

“Four and Five Diamond hotels and restaurants provide guests with a personalized experience and attentive service in comfortable, high quality surroundings,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager in a press release.

“These establishments consistently exceed the expectations of the most discriminating traveler – the AAA inspector. We are proud to have these dedicated businesses in our region,” said Sumida.

In the restaurant categories, only two made the Five Diamond rating, and both were on Oʻahu–Chef Mavro, and La Mer in the Halekūlani.

In the Four Diamond category for restaurants, two of the eight on the list were from Maui County–The Dining Room at the Four Seasons Resort Lānaʻi, The Lodge at Koele, and Spago at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.

AAA Hawaiʻi describes restaurants at the Four or Five Diamond level as those that, “offer a distinctive fine dining experience,” with “creative chefs, imaginative menus, fresh top-quality ingredients and knowledgeable staff.”
