Fueling a personal theory that every celebrity has or will soon have a line of liquor with their name on it, Makena Beach & Golf Resort’s latest Liquid Chef Series features George Clooney’s Casamigos Tequila.

Yep.

Apparently George Clooney has a tequila.

Specifically, Casamigos Tequila, described as a “superior ultra-premium tequila made by the finest, hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agaves grown in the rich clay soil and cool climate of the Jalisco highlands of Mexico. Developed by longtime celebrity friends George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman, Casamigos was created out of a deep love for tequila and the desire to create the best-tasting, smoothest tequila available to drink with their friends and family. The name Casamigos loosely translates to ‘House of Friends’.”

The event is this Thursday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. and commences with a shot of the tequila.

Then, hand-crafted drinks designed by Master Mixologist Chandra Lucariello and paired appetizers designed by Executive Chef Marc McDowell and prepared by Chef De Cuisine Kurt Lesmerises will be available at five action stations.

The first of the drinks is the Sangrita.

This shot of Casamigos silver with a Sangrita back pays homage to the Mexican tradition of enjoying a shot of tequila blanc followed by a pepper-tomato based chaser.

Next is the ‘Something PHO You’ featuring Casamigos Silver Tequila muddled with classic Vietnamese pho flavors.

The Cinco De Migos cocktail finds Casamigos Silver Tequila and Mexican Mandarin Soda combined in a fizzy cocktail.

The Red Chile Guava-Rita offers Casamigos Reposado infused with red chili and served with guava and lime.

The event will also feature a surprise cocktail, kept secret until the unveiling at the event.

“Our surprise cocktail incorporates both traditional Mexican flavors with a unique twist that I think will please,” comments Lucariello. “As a hint, one of ingredients is chocolate.”

As previously mentioned, there are also gourmet appetizers to be had.

Although it isn’t clear which dish goes with what drink, expect Hawaiian Style Ceviche made with fresh white fish, local lime, jalapeño, cilantro, olive oil and bell peppers.

Also on the menu is Tequila Shrimp. Tiger shrimp is marinated in tequila and spices served with red chili-achiote rice and tequila lime butter.

The Chipotle Pork Baby Back Ribs features braised spare ribs with mango chili sauce on jicama slaw.

The Pork Cemita Sliders offer chili-braised Kurobuta pulled pork, Oaxacan cheese, avocado, papalo and chipotle puree.

Last up, the Crab and Lobster Corn Fritters are made with snow crab and Maine lobster with Kula corn and cilantro aioli.

The event is offered at $60 per person (not including tax or gratuity) and reservations are required.
