No Advisories After 3.6 Quake Near Honokaʻa, Hawaiʻi Island

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory is reporting a preliminary magnitude 3.6 earthquake reported at 9:47 p.m. HST on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, near Honokaʻa on Hawaiʻi Island.

There were no advisories issued following the quake.

The quake occurred at a depth of 39 km and was located 12 miles ESE of Honokaʻa, Hawaiʻi; 23 miles NNW of Hilo, Hawaiʻi; 35 miles NW of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaiʻi; 52 miles ENE of Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi; and 187 miles ESE of Honolulu, Oʻahu, according to the US Geological Survey.

According to the agency’s “Did You Feel It” website, 15 people responded in Kamuela, 7 individuals said they felt it in Kapaʻau, and 5 people reported feeling the quake in Hilo.
