Ka Lima O Maui hosts its 3rd annual job fair for persons with disabilities from 9 a.m. to noon today, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.

The non-profit organization specializes in helping adults with disabilities with job skills training and employment services.

Organizers say the job fair is open to all persons with disabilities, many of whom will be entering the workforce for the first time.

The list of employers planning to participate this year include: 24 Hour Fitness; Aflac; Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.; Da Kine Detail; Da Kitchen Cafe; Dazoo; ʻEnehana Computer Services; The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui; Fernando’s Mexican Grill; Habitat for Humanity; HC&S; The Home Depot; Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa; Krispy Kreme; Lowe’s; Macy’s; Maui Electric; Maui Windows & Doors; Minit Stop; Oceanic Time Warner; Old Navy; Roy’s Kāʻanapali; Sack N Save; Sears; Starbucks; TSA; Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa; Walgreens; Westin Maui Resort and Spa; and Whole Foods Market.

The event is free and is open to all individuals with disabilities.

Organizers say the job fair is held in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an awareness campaign that is held each year in October.  This year’s theme, “Expect, Employ, Empower,” is aimed at educating the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.

Ka Lima O Maui has been “Enhancing Lives through Self-Reliance” since 1955 by providing a variety of different services such as Grounds and Custodial Services, Internship and Job Placement Programs and the Medicaid Waiver Program.
