Maui Crime Log Nov. 16-22: Burglaries, Thefts, Break-ins

Maui police responded to 27 burglaries, 10 vehicle thefts, and 19 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between Nov. 16 to 22, 2014.

Of the 10 vehicle thefts, one vehicle has since been recovered.  The incidents were spread across the island with reports in: Haʻikū, Hāna, Kahului, Kula, Lānaʻi, Nāpili, Pāʻia, Pukalani, and Wailea.  The number of vehicle thefts remained unchanged from the amount reported a week earlier.

Burglary incidents spiked for the week with 27 burglaries reported, up from 16 incidents reported the week before.  The greatest number of incidents occurred in Kahului where six incidents occurred; followed by five incidents in Makawao, and four incidents in Wailuku. Other burglaries were spread out across the county.

Vehicle break-ins were up to 19 from 18 reported the week before.  Ten of the incidents were in Kahului, three of them at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center.
