The National Weather Service has cancelled the High Surf Warning for the north facing shores of Maui and the north and west facing shores of Molokai. It has been replaced with a High Surf Advisory posted through 4 p.m. Friday.

The Small Craft Advisory issued by the National Weather Service has been extended through 6 a.m. Friday for Maui County windward waters and channels.  Rough seas of 8 to 13 feet are forecasted.

Scattered showers are expected in Maui County today for windward and mauka areas as a front makes its passage. Leeward spots are forecasted to be mostly clear. Winds are out of the east around 15 to 20 mph. High temperatures should fall in the range of 79° to 84° and around 71° at 5000 feet.

Tonight

Partly to mostly cloudy skies expected tonight for Maui County with scattered showers in windward and mauka spots. Leeward areas will remain mostly clear. Winds are out of the east from 15 to 20 mph. Low temperatures are expected in the range of 67° to 72° with a low of about 48° at 5000 feet.

Looking Ahead

Winds have increased overnight and are forecasted to weaken again on Friday. A second front expected this weekend is forecasted to reach Maui County Sunday with an increase in windward and mauka showers and will bring strong and gusty winds in its wake. We’ll keep tweaking the forecast as it becomes more certain.
