The National Weather Service has cancelled the High Surf Warning for the north facing shores of Maui and the north and west facing shores of Molokai. It has been replaced with a High Surf Advisory posted through 4 p.m. Friday.

The Small Craft Advisory issued by the National Weather Service has been extended through 6 a.m. Friday for Maui County windward waters and channels.  Rough seas of 8 to 13 feet are forecasted.

Variable winds are expected up to 15 mph. Mostly sunny skies are expected today with morning sunshine and clouds building in the afternoon as the sea breeze kicks in. We could see some isolated showers squeeze out of those afternoon clouds. High temperatures should fall in the range of 80° to 85° and around 72° at 5000 feet.

Tonight

Partly to mostly cloudy skies expected tonight for Maui County with scattered showers in windward and mauka spots. Leeward areas will remain mostly clear. Winds are out of the northeast from 10 to 20 mph. Low temperatures are expected in the range of 67° to 72° with a low of about 48° at 5000 feet.

Looking Ahead

Another front is on the way for the weekend spreading light rain across the state from Saturday into Sunday. Gusty northerly winds are expected behind the frontal passage. A Small Craft Advisory will be posted with gale conditions and wind advisories possible. Winds will increase especially where winds funnel, go downslope and over coastal waters and channels. On Monday wind speeds are expected to ease and the weather is forecasted to get back to normal trade wind conditions.
