By Maui Now Staff
The Maui Celebrity Series will relaunch on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, with Bob Saget – Live in Concert and special guest Brian Evans, presented by Original New York Seltzer.
Previously at The Maui Theatre, the series will now be held at The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in Lahaina.
Bob Saget, who launched to fame on both Full House and America’s Funniest Home Video’s and numerous major film credits, will perform a set of stand-up—his first on Maui.
The opening act will be crooner Brian Evans (who also appeared on Full House back in the ’90s as character Kimmy Gibler’s boyfriend on the show).
>Evans is known for his hit songs At Fenway and the newly released Creature at The Bates Motel.
Other stars are also headed to Lahaina, including Tracy Morgan from 30 Rock and Wayne Brady.
Series producers also intend on bringing back some of the series’ performers from a few years ago, including David Spade, Rob Schneider, William Shatner and more.
The Maui Celebrity Series was created in 2010 by Evans, who was the opening act for stars such as Joan Rivers and Jay Leno. Utilizing relationships created through his career, he found a way to bring big names to Maui who typically perform in much larger venues.
Evans brought MOS DEF to Maui as part of the series in 2011.
“We have very exciting plans for the island. Lahaina is going to be booming again,” said Evans, who received a commendation from then Gov. Linda Lingle for creating the series.
