The Music Club to Hold Open Mic Night at UHMC
The Music Club of University of Hawai‘i Maui College invites students, staff, faculty and community members to an Open Mic event on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Student Lounge.
This is a family event for all talents and all ages, who love to sing, play an instrument, slam poetry or perform with a band, do hula, magic tricks, stand-up comedy, karaoke, act or dance—or just watch.
Admission is free and food will be provided at no charge.
“This is the third year we have held open mics” said Karyn Sarring, advisor for The Music Club. “So many open mics are just for music, held late at night and are not for family. We wanted to showcase all the different talents in our community and provide an opportunity for all of UHMC performance classes—music and drama—and speech classes, too.
Attendees will also enjoy performances by the UHMC chorus, the Institute for Hawaiian Musicians as well as surprise talent from the Maui community.
Ronda and Ruben Pali’s keiki ‘ukuele and chorus, ages 6 to 12, will take the stage at 6 p.m. The Palis are the founders of Maui Music Mission in Lahaina. The Trading Card & Tabletop Games Club will also attend the event.
The next open mic night will be held on Nov. 18.
