Two Maui Restaurants Earn TripAdvisor Top 25 Ranking

Two Maui restaurants made the cut for the 25 Best Fine Dining Restaurants in the US for 2015 according to a new list released by travel site TripAdvisor.

The 2015 list includes: #14 Mama’s Fish House in Pāʻia; and #15 Lahaina Grill in West Maui.

This is the third year in a row that Mama’s Fish House was selected, dropping one spot from number 13 in 2014, and slipping from it’s top 10 spot it claimed in 2013.

Located just west of Hoʻokipa Beach Park along Maui’s north shore, the restaurant features a menu of locally sourced fresh fish, a beachfront view and vintage decor.

The Lahaina Grill has a menu selection that includes American, seafood, steakhouse, and Pacific Rim options.  Located on Lahainaluna Road, the west side restaurant is just steps from the popular Front Street that is home to a host of art galleries, shops and whaling town memorabilia.

This is the second year in a row that Lahaina Grill was selected for the list, dropping one spot from 14 last year to 15 this year.

The US list also included: (1) Bouley, New York City; (2) Alinea, Chicago, Illinois; (3) Le Bernardin New York City; (4) Uchi, Austin, Texas; (5) Halls Chophouse, Charleston, South Carolina; (6) Victoria & Albert’s, Orlando, Florida; (7) Canlis Restaurant, Seattle, Washington; (8) Chez Panisse, Berkeley, California; (9) Daniel, New York City; (10) Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Houston, Texas; (11) Restaurant Gary Danko, San Francisco, California; (12) Eleven Madison Park, New York City; and (13) Circa 1886 Restaurant, Charleston, South Carolina.

The list was announced today as part of TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice awards, and was among a group of Top 25 regional and worldwide lists released by the site.

According to the announcement, the awards were based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers, and were determined using an algorithm that “took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world, gathered over a 12-month period.”

“We tapped the TripAdvisor community to help us serve up the top fine-dining restaurants around the globe because an exceptional dining experience can be the highlight of a trip or a special occasion,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor in a company press release.

“These elite dining establishments have earned the highest praise from travelers for their remarkable cuisine and commitment to service. As a special bonus, we have asked the chefs of these top-rated restaurants to share recipes with our community so that if you can’t dine at the restaurant anytime soon, you can travel with your taste buds and make some of their dishes at home.”

According to the announcement, the awards recognize 356 restaurants around the globe, with lists dedicated to Asia, Canada, Europe, India, South America, South Pacific, the UK, the US and the world.
