Virgin Begins Service Between Kahului and San Francisco
The California-based airline, Virgin America, launches service from San Francisco to Kahului Maui today, Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015.
An introductory fare sale of $199 one way* (including taxes and restrictions applying) begins today as well and can be purchased at www.virginamerica.com or 1-877-FLY-VIRGIN.
In addition to the fare sale, Virgin America is also celebrating with a complimentary ‘POG mimosa’ toast for travelers aboard its inaugural flight today.
The new flight comes just a month after the airline launched service from San Francisco to Honolulu on Nov. 2, 2015.
“As Hawaiʻi is one of the most popular leisure destinations among Bay Area travelers, we are thrilled to begin our nonstop flights to Maui today on the heels of our launch to Honolulu just last month – and continue the expansion of world class destinations we fly to,” said John MacLeod, Senior Vice President of Sales and Planning at Virgin America in a company press release.
Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau Executive Director, Terryl Vencl also commented in the announcement saying, “Virgin America and Maui are a perfect travel combination that residents throughout the San Francisco Bay Area will love when making their vacation escape. We are excited to have one of the nation’s top-ranked airlines flying to our island paradise, which is annually honored as one of the best destinations in the world.”
Airline executives say these flights will boost air seat capacity to Hawai‘i from the U.S. West market, generating an estimated $138.6 million in annual visitor spending and $14.8 million in state tax revenues.
The new Hawai‘i markets will represent the 22nd and 23rd destinations served by the Virgin America.
Airline executives say flyers can also find deals today on connecting flights between Maui and many of Virgin America’s cities – including Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, San Diego and Washington DC.
Virgin America’s Kahului-Maui service is as follows:
- From SFO to OGG: Depart at 7:55 a.m.; Arrive at 11:40 a.m. Frequency: Tu, Sat, Sun
- From OGG to SFO: Depart 1:10 p.m.; Arrive 8:15 p.m. Frequency: Tu, Sat, Sun
- From SFO to OGG: Depart 6:05 p.m.; Arrive 9:50 p.m. Frequency: Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri
- From Ogg to SFO: Depart 11:20 p.m.; Arrive 6:25 a.m. (+1) Frequency: Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri
*Note: All fares listed are one-way and tickets must be purchased by 11:59pm CT on Friday, December 4, 2015. Travel must occur between Dec. 8, 2015 and March 9, 2016. Lowest sale fares are available only on certain itineraries. Lowest sale fares are only valid for travel on Tuesday and Wednesday.
