More than 450 Bank of Hawai‘i employees will gather in downtown Honolulu this evening at the bank’s main branch for a special tree lighting celebration, sing-along and check presentation to the bank’s 23 beneficiaries of the 2015 Live Kōkua Giving Campaign.

Employees and retirees raised a record-breaking $667,889 during the five-week campaign from Aug. 28 through Oct. 2.

The amount raised is the most in the campaign’s history, and far surpasses the campaign goal of $600,000.

Bank of Hawai‘i employee and DJ Randy Villaver will feature holiday songs and dance mixes on-stage.

For the fourth consecutive year, the 12-foot fully decorated Noble Fir Christmas tree will be donated to the Institute for Human Services after the event.

Santa and his elf will pay a visit during this Hawaiian-themed event, and employees will enjoy a special cookie-making station and shave ice to celebrate the holiday season.

Festive holiday trolleys will be available for roundtrip rides to enjoy Honolulu City Lights.

Heavy pūpū will be available inside the Main Banking Center.

Employees voted online to select the beneficiaries. The amounts given to each organization vary and are based on individual employee pledges to preferred organizations.

Since the campaign’s inception in 2010, Bank of Hawai‘i employees and retirees have raised more than $4.1 million for nonprofits in the local community.

In total this year, Bank of Hawai‘i, its foundation and bank employees donated more than $2.7 million to over 400 community organizations. Employees and retirees contributed $774,146 in 2015, which includes funds raised from the Live Kōkua Giving Campaign and the bank’s annual Community Walk held in April.
