In 2013, Carroll joined the company as a group sales manager. Within three years, Ashley exceeded her annual goals and was recognized by Starwood Hotels & Resorts (North America) as a Global Incentive Trip winner for her achievements. She was named a winning finalist under the company’s “Group Sales Manager of the Year” category in 2013 and 2015 as well.
Carroll began her career in the hospitality industry as an event coordinator for Kapalua Land Company in 2004. Over the next four years, she helped organize events—the PGA Mercedes-Benz Championship, Kapalua Food & Wine Festival, Whale Quest Kapalua and Life Fest—among others.
In 2008, Carroll joined The Ritz-Carlton in Maui, overseeing the development and operations of Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program. She also managed multiple property outlets and signature hotel events for the next five years and was named “Leader of The Quarter” in 2008 and 2011.
Carroll graduated with a degree in marine biology and microbiology from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She then joined the merchant marines for a research expedition through the South Pacific where she fell in love with Maui during her voyage in 1999 and decided to make the island her home.
Carroll is an advocate, member and volunteer of local youth and environmental programs. In May 2012, she received an honorary “Ka Ipu Kukui” fellowship from the University of Hawai‘i. A month later, she was honored by the South Bay California Surf League for her contributions toward women surfing, including her championship league wins in 1993 and 1994 and her noble efforts in teaching surfing to at-risk youths. She has also been a recurring presenter for the Hawaii Green Business program.
