Sheraton Maui Selects New Director of Human Resources
Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa has promoted Lee Otaguro to director of human resources.
Otaguro joined the Sheraton Maui in 2011 as human resources manager before being promoted to assistant director of human resources in 2015.
In his new role, Otaguro will focus on the hotel’s employees and internal service culture.
“Lee is a strong leader with a deep knowledge of Sheraton Maui and the hospitality industry,” said Tetsuji Yamazaki, general manager of the resort. “We look forward to his continued achievements as he leads the department and helps drive the success of all of our associates and managers.”
Otaguro first joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts as a bushelp at The Royal Hawaiian in 1998, before graduating from the associate development program in 2006 and beginning a role as property service culture trainer.
He has also served in multiple other roles, including food and beverage manager, beach and pool manager, training manager and uniformed services manager.
Otaguro has been celebrated as an outstanding Starwood Cares for the Community volunteer. He also received honorable mention as a “Manager of the Year” nominee for the Hawai‘i Hotel Association annual award in 2013.
