Maui Wedding Association Elects New Board

The Maui Wedding Association has elected seven members to its 2016-17 board of directors at its annual meeting on June 28.

The annual meeting was hosted by association member The King Kamehameha Golf Club & Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku.

Tambara Garrick, Hawaii regional sales manager for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Mai Tai Bar, will serve as president for the upcoming term.

“I look forward to working with the new board to accomplish the goals of the association which is to promote and connect Maui wedding professionals,” said Garrick. “The $72 billon dollars spent annually on weddings in the United States means that this is a market segment that cannot be ignored. My goal for the association is to work with our partners such as the Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau to continue to position Maui as a top wedding destination.”

Ryan Beenken, sales and marketing manager of Hard Rock Cafe Maui was elected to the board as vice president.

Tim Clark, owner of Hawaiian Island Weddings Inc. will continue his board service as treasurer for the upcoming year.

Kymberly Marr of Makeup and Talent Hawaii, was reelected for a third term as secretary.

Directors include: Janet Inda, wedding coordinator, and catering and event manager at The King Kamehameha Golf Club & Kahili Golf Course; Elaine Kerr, director of special events at the Plantation House Kapalua; and Joseph Narrowe, officiant with Distinctive Weddings Maui.

The Maui Wedding Association produces The Maui Wedding Planner, an award-winning magazine with an annual circulation of 17,500, and produces the Maui Wedding Expo, Maui’s only wedding event of its kind.

The 2016 Maui Wedding Expo, which will be the association’s 21st, will be held on Aug. 27, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.

The mission of the Maui Wedding Association is to bring together businesses to promote the advancement of the Maui wedding industry, to offer opportunities for professional growth through education and the sharing of ideas, and to foster a caring attitude and Aloha spirit among members in dealings with the community, with clients and with each other.
