“Dog” Chapman’s Da Kine Bail Bonds Sued Over Failure to Pay State

The State Attorney General’s office has filed petitions to enforce judgments against Da Kine Bail Bonds, Inc. and Safety National Casualty Corporation for forfeited bail bonds those companies failed to pay to the State of Hawaiʻi.

Attorney General Doug Chin said Da Kine owes the state $35,000 from 21 separate criminal cases.

Bounty hunter and reality television star Duane “Dog” Chapman is the president and director of Da Kine. Safety National is the surety that is obligated to pay if Da Kine defaults.

Seven other bail bond companies that were reviewed paid the judiciary approximately $700,000 upon receiving notice of delinquency, and are not subject to the petition.

A hearing has been set for August 17thin Circuit Court.  Hearing dates for the Family Court and District Court have not yet been determined.
