Aloha Mayor,

Q: I live near Peahi forest and I have seen an increase in rubbish there recently—couches, mattresses, tires, old engine parts and household trash. It’s heartbreaking to see.

Is there someone I can call about having the rubbish removed?

I’ve thought about going down there with my own trash can and picking up what I can, but there’s still the larger items.

It’s a popular place for dumping; maybe putting up some signs about criminal littering to discourage people.

My office has already alerted Malama Maui Nui about the location of the illegal dumpsite you provided.
