Dog Days of Summer to Benefit Assistance Dogs of Hawai’i

Calling all dog lovers…

Assistance Dogs of Hawai’i and Tommy Bahama are teaming up for a Shop for a Cause – Dog Days of Summer event on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at The Shops at Wailea.

Since its inception in 2000, Assistance Dogs of Hawai’i has graduated over 65 Service Dogs and paired them with people in need around the state.

ADH places its Assistance Dogs and provides lifetime follow-up support free of charge to the recipients.

In addition to Service Dogs for people with physical disabilities, graduates include Hospital Facility Dogs like Tucker, “Chief Canine Officer” at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children and Hospital Facility Dog Yoda at Queen’s Medical Center Cancer Clinic.

Courthouse Dogs also work at Prosecutor’s Offices around the state, helping children who are victims of crime through the difficult legal process. Courthouse Dogs help to give children the courage to find their voice during interviews and while testifying in court.

The public is invited to meet puppies in training, and shop to help Assistance Dogs of Hawai’i unleash their abilities.

Tommy Bahama will donate 10% of their store’s net sales made from noon to 5 p.m. to Assistance Dogs of Hawai’i, a Maui-based 501 c(3) non-profit that trains Assistance Dogs for people with disabilities and special needs, and provides lifetime follow up support, free of charge.
