Hawaiʻi Mermaid Adventures Transforms Guests into Mythical Creatures
A new mermaid adventure company has launched business on Maui that offers guests the opportunity to explore the ocean, coral reefs and underwater wildlife as the mythical undersea creatures.
Company representatives say that after practicing getting in and out of mermaid tails on land, guests practice ocean swimming as mermaids, ultimately transforming into the magical undersea creatures with oversight by instructors that are CPR, lifeguard and marine naturalist certified.
Guests also learn ocean mysteries and global myths about mermaids, from sailor’s tales to mermaid names.
The Hawaiʻi Mermaid Adventures is a part of Hawaiian Paddle Sports, an eco-tour company that was recently recognized as one of the Fastest 50 growing companies in the state by Pacific Business News.
Both companies were recognized today by the Hawaiʻi Ecotourism Association for their contributions to sustainable tourism in Hawaiʻi.
“We are thrilled to offer this incredibly memorable experience, especially to anyone who has dreamt of becoming a mermaid,” said owner Timothy Lara. “With Hawaiʻi Mermaid Adventures, guests can explore the ocean, coral reefs and underwater wildlife in a fun and unique way,” he said.
Company representatives say safety is their foremost concern and added, “Becoming a mermaid is a first step in becoming a lifelong ocean steward.”
“Before entering the water, guides demonstrate proper water etiquette, how to identify native fish species, and highlight important conservation issues. Guides also conduct mini-beach clean ups before each lesson,” according to a company announcement.
Hawaiʻi Mermaid Adventures provides complimentary beach and underwater digital photography as well with every swimming lesson.
Founded in 2016, Hawaiʻi Mermaid Adventures is a small company encourages guests to “discover a deeper appreciation of and connection to Hawaiʻi’s marine environment.”
