Maui County Councilmembers Gladys Coelho Baisa and Michael Victorino will be the featured guests at a workshop and open forum event hosted by the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016.

Both Baisa and Victorino reach their term limit this year after serving five consecutive two-year terms on the Maui County Council.

During their tenure, both served on various committees tackling important county policy and legislation, and lobbying the state legislature.

As strong advocates of the business community, Baisa and Victorino will share leadership tips and stories about what it’s like in and out of the Council Chamber. The intimate workshop, entitled “Recess: Get the Scoops” will also have a moderated open forum where guests can ask questions.

The event is open to the public.  Admission is free for chamber members and $25 for non-members.

The chamber’s general membership meeting and elections will be conducted prior the workshop from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at Tante’s Island Cuisine in Kahului.  Heavy pūpū is included.

Baisa and Victorino’s terms end on Jan. 2, 2017. Baisa is the current chair of the council’s Water Resources Committee. Victorino serves as the council’s presiding officer pro tempore, chair of the Policy and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and president of the Hawaiʻi State Association of Counties.
