The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for… The island of Maui in Maui County
* Until 345 PM HST
* At 1250 PM HST, radar detected moderate to locally heavy showers falling at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour over saturated windward slopes of Maui. Streams are running very high, and the Hana Highway remains closed between mile markers 2 and 16.
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to… Kahului, Pauwela, Honokohau, Huelo, Nahiku, Makawao, Paia, Puunene, Waiehu, Haliimaile, Pukalani and Wailuku.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads, and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now.
Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don/t drown.
This warning may need to be extended beyond 345 PM HST if heavy rain persists.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for… The island of Maui in Maui County
* Until 100 PM HST
* At 1003 AM HST, radar continued to show persistent moderate to briefly heavy showers with rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour moving onto windward slopes of Maui. Streams have been rising, and Maui County officials reported that the Hana Highway is closed between mile markers 14 and 16 due to a downed tree and debris on the road.
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to… Kahului, Pauwela, Honokohau, Huelo, Nahiku, Makawao, Paia, Puunene, Waiehu, Haliimaile, Pukalani and Wailuku.
