After several months of remodeling and reorganization, Hui No Ke Ola Pono is proud to announce the re-opening of Simply Healthy Café on Friday, Jan. 13. The in-house café is dedicated to providing diabetic-friendly, high fiber food, seasoned with fresh herbs. Leaders invite you to enjoy the low-salt, low-sugar and low-fat culinary creations of the newly renovated café, which is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Café manager Alena Ornellas says “Simply Healthy Café provides our local community with a delicious and affordable meal choice consistent with cardiac or diabetic sensitive patients.”

The café is proud to influence healthy food choices to an estimated 350 individuals, from keiki to kupuna. It provides lunches to four preschools, AluLike at Paukukalo, and Kupuna Home deliveries, serving a total of around 3,000 meals.

“Simply Healthy Café is the perfect representation of our organizational mission: to improve the health status of Native Hawaiians by empowering generations to be their own advocates,” said Executive Director Joseph (Joey) Gonsalves. “For a lot of us, taking ownership of our health starts with our dietary choices, and Simply Healthy Café helps set the tone for how we can do that.”
