Maui Grown Therapies Hosts Public Open Houses in AprilMarch 31, 2017, 3:22 PM HST · Updated April 1, 6:30 AM 0 Comments
The public is invited to two upcoming Open House events at the Maui Grown Therapies cannabis dispensary in April.
The events give guests ages 21 and older a chance to see what a medical cannabis dispensary looks like and get information on services.
The public events run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 and 22. The facility is located at 44 Paʻa Street in the Maui Lani Village Center in Kahului.
“Once we open for sales later this summer, only registered patients will be allowed to enter the dispensary,” said Teri Freitas Gorman, Director of Community Relations & Patient Affairs. “So this is a rare opportunity to welcome everyone to come and see for themselves what we’re planning for Maui’s medical cannabis patients. We encourage folks to sign up at our website to get notices about educational events in the coming weeks.”
Maui Grown Therapies staff will be available during both Open House events to answer questions about how Hawaiʻi’s medical cannabis program works, which conditions and symptoms qualify, and what interested patients, caregivers and family members should know about cannabis therapy.
Due to Hawai’i state regulations, no person under the age of 21 may enter a dispensary. Hawaiʻi laws also prohibit the use of photo or video recording of the dispensary interior. Cell phone use will not be allowed inside.
Maui Grown Therapies earned the state’s first medical marijuana dispensary license last April after achieving a near perfect score of 510 of a possible 520 points in a merit based evaluation process conducted by the Hawaiʻi Department of Health.
The company’s Production Center, located in Upcountry Maui, is powered by a solar ‘micro-grid’ renewable energy system sized to provide 100% of its electricity needs.
Subject to DOH approvals that include lab testing requirements, the company plans to open its Maui Lani Village dispensary later this summer. A second dispensary site will be announced later this year.
