Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge, both accomplished guitarists when they teamed up in 2013, represent an artistic pairing in which two distinct artists perform in total sync with each other.

Their work is described as having bits of bluegrass and folk, with added touches of jazz, pop and even bits of classical and avant-garde composition.

Lage is an accomplished jazz guitarists and Eldridge is a veteran of the world of bluegrass. The New Yorker magazine states, “Julian and Chris possess a familiarity with the fretboard…so extravagant and capacious that they bring flourishes to this music that it simply hasn’t enjoyed before.”

Their first joint recording was “Close to Picture,” a self-released EP of four songs in 2013 followed shortly thereafter with their first full joint album, “Avalon.” Their most recent album, released earlier this year is, “Mount Royal,” and showcases the musicians’ ability to mix and match musical genres in their own distinctive way.

Aoife O’Donovan was born and raised in Newton, Mass., but spent many summers in Ireland with her extended family. She is a singer, musician and songwriter and brings a combination of folk rock, indie folk and influences from Ireland to her music. Her performance at the MACC will be acoustic.

She previously performed as lead singer through collaborations: on the Grammy-winning album by “The Goat Rodeo Sessions,” and for a decade in the progressive string band Crooked Still and most recently as a member of I’m With Her, a trio with singers Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz.
