    Looking Ahead

    Breezy trade winds are forecast through Saturday with more typical windward and mauka showers. Sunday winds are expected to diminish a bit. Early next week we expect conditions to become less stable.

     

    Today 

    We have breezy trade winds today from 15 to 25 mph. High temperatures are forecast from 84° to 89°. Mostly sunny skies with scattered windward showers.

    UV index at 12 (“extreme” exposure level)

     

    Tonight 

    Partly cloudy skies with scattered windward showers and isolated leeward showers tonight. Low temperatures from 68° to 73°. Winds are expected to be trades at about 15 to 25 mph.

    Malika was born and raised in Hilo. She began her career in news at KGMB9 in 2007. As a part of the Hawaii News Now weather team, Malika was nominated for two Emmy Awards for excellence in weather reporting and won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Journalism Award for her reporting on Hawaii’s tsunami damage in 2011. In 2019, Malika was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaii Chapter in the category of Science Reporting for her Big Island Now news report on what was happening beneath the sea surface at the ocean entry of the Puna lava flow.
