Conservation Internship Program Now Accepting Applications

An internship program specifically designed to help develop Maui’s next generation of conservation leaders is now accepting applications for its Spring and Summer 2018 program.

The Nā Hua Hoʻohuli i ka Pono internship program is for college-level students who have an interest in integrating conservation with their future career. The program works with host agencies Maui Invasive Species Committee, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, and Maui Nui Seabird Recovery Project.

There are currently two positions available for this internship. Applicants will be selected through a competitive process which includes a formal application, criminal history check, and interview.

Interns will earn a bi-weekly living allowance of $475 and are eligible to earn an AmeriCorps Education Award that may be applied toward higher education costs or student loans.

Interested candidates must be available for 19 hours a week from Jan. 22, 2018 through May 11, 2018.

Students will be responsible for their own transportation and housing accommodations. Completed applications and all required documents must be received by 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2018.

A full-time Summer internship application is also available. The program term will run from June 11, 2018 through Aug. 3, 2018 and will have four positions available with multiple host agencies.
