Go Fund Me Started for Maui Motorcycle Crash Survivor

Previous Post:  A Go Fund Me account has been set up for one of the individuals who survived a deadly motorcycle accident on Maui’s Piʻilani Highway last week.

Monique “Momo” Tong was the passenger on a black 2003 Independence motorcycle that collided into a gold 2003 Chrysler Caravan last week Friday, July 20, 2018.

Police say the Caravan failed to yield while making a left turn onto Piʻilani Highway from East Welakahao Road.

Tong’s boyfriend, William Kerr Chapman, 42, of Kīhei, was operating the motorcycle and died at the scene.  The driver of the Caravan, Tina Louise Hanback, 48, of Kīhei, also died as a result of the accident.  A front seat passenger in the Caravan was not wearing his seatbelt and sustained injuries. He was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.

According to a Go Fund Me update, Tong suffered a collapsed lung and broken ribs.  She was medevaced to Queens Medical Center on Oʻahu for further treatment.

Friends and family say it will be a “long road to recovery,” and are asking for positive thoughts, prayers and hope that the public will assist with donations to help cover medical expenses.
