Hāna Man Critically Injured in East Maui Crash

A 24-year-old Hāna man, sustained critical life-threatening injuries in a crash on the Hāna Highway at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018.

Police say the crash occurred as a black Toyota Matrix 4DSD, traveling south on Hāna Highway, crossed left on center and collided into a tree on the opposite shoulder of the roadway. The operator of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Hāna man, sustained injuries and was transported the Hāna Clinic in stable condition.

The front seat passenger of the vehicle, a 24-year-old Hāna man, was critically injured and was transported the Maui Memorial Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room.

The involvement of speed, drugs, and alcohol are still pending as the investigation is ongoing. Hāna patrol officers were assigned to investigate.
