Join Maui Now as we Paddle for Life!
A team of paddlers from our own Maui Now is joining the journey across the ʻAuʻau Channel this weekend in an attempt to raise funds and awareness for cancer in the Maui community.
Company director Jack Dugan sent an open letter (see below) inviting the public to follow the team with updates from the two-day round-trip paddle between Maui and Lānaʻi; and has set a $10,000 goal in the hopes of helping the Pacific Cancer Foundation toward their larger efforts to raise $250,000. Maui Now has partnered with the Pacific Cancer Foundation this year in their 10th anniversary Paddle for Life event taking place this weekend.

A letter from Maui Now’s Director
Aloha Friends,
I write you today, to extend a special invitation to join us, as we Paddle for Life. Without a doubt, cancer has affected each and every one of us in some way, here in Maui County. This weekend, many incredible survivors, ʻohana and supporters come together to help raise funds for the Maui County cancer community. Please consider joining us all.
Maui Now is honored to be partnering with the Pacific Cancer Foundation for their annual Paddle for Life event, happening Oct. 6-7. A handful of our team members will be joining hundreds of paddlers as we all Paddle for Life, on a round-trip voyage from Maui to Lānaʻi.
The Maui Now Canoe, will be guided by our Team Captain, renowned paddler and event founder Kimokeo Kapahulehua.
HERE IS HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
One easy way to help, is to share this article with your friends and family. Some who read this may also feel compelled to support with a financial donation to this fundraiser.
We have set up a GoFundMe page here, where every dollar donated will go directly to Pacific Cancer Foundation. Alternatively, you can also donate to a specific paddler on the Maui Now team here. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000!
Pacific Cancer Foundation focuses on providing free support services for Maui’s cancer community. It is reassuring to know all funds raised, stay here in Maui County.
We will be posting videos and photos of this voyage over the weekend. We hope you are able to follow us here on MauiNow.com and our social media channels.
Mahalo for your care and support!
Jack Dugan
Director, Maui Now
“There is truly a remarkable parallel between an ocean paddling voyage and the journey experienced by cancer patients and survivors. Both involve tremendous physical, mental and emotional strength. Both require patience and perseverance. And, ultimately, it takes a team to make the journey successful.” – Paddle for Life team
