Free Whale & Ocean Arts Festival 2019, March 9
The Lahaina Whale and Ocean Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring live traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music all day as well as hula performances.
The Lahaina Whale and Ocean Arts Festival is a free event at Kamehameha III Elementary School in celebration of the return migration of the Pacific humpback whales, presented by Lahaina Town Action Committee.
Local artists and crafters will also be displaying marine-themed work for sale.
Keiki can submit art work with a “Whale and Ocean” theme by 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, online. At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, winners will be announced and prizes from local merchants will be awarded.
In addition, keiki can participate in numerous arts, crafts and games and enjoy face paintings, temporary tattoos and more.
Come talk story with marine research groups with naturalists at the interactive booths and visit the informational talks to help educate yourself about the Hawaiian sea turtles, monk seals, whales, reefs and native fish species.
