Wild Rose: From its opening notes, this astonishing film puts a lump in your throat as you realize you’re watching a star being born.  Newcomer Jessie Buckley is driven to become the country music singer she’s always imagined she could be even with two kids in tow. Challenged with starting up a new life in Nashville from her life in Scotland is a life expanding journey that lives and breathes feminism without ever having to comment on it.  This is exceptional, genre shattering, remembered forever cinema.  Director: Tom Harper.  Print Courtesy: NEON (101 min. The Peanut Butter Falcon:  Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson and newcomer Zack Gottsagen co-star in this SXSW Audience Award Winner for Best Spotlight Feature. A heartfelt story about a group of mostly harmless misfits who decide to help a marginally mentally handicapped patient escape the hospital he has been placed in to go on a Tom Sawyer-like raft trip to chase his dream, meet his hero and become the first mentally challenged professional wrestler ever. Delightful and unique. Directors and Screenwriters: Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz. Courtesy of: Roadside Attractions. (93 min. NR) Click here for movie clip.
