AARP: “Finance Your Future Even if You Live to be 100”
The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is offering Maui residents of all ages a free financial class that addresses the fact that retirees are living longer lives than ever before.
The “Finance Your Future” conference will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kaunoa Senior Center, located at 401 Alakapa Place in Spreckelsville. Those interested can register online here or by calling 1-877-926-8300.
This year’s theme is about planning and paying for a “100-year life.” With better healthcare and healthier lifestyles, AARP officials point out that the chances are increasing that people will reach their centennial year of life.
“People need to prepare for retirement or risk being unable to retire. This conference will help you secure the kind of retirement that will give your choices,” said Barbara Kim Stanton, AARP Hawai‘i State Director. “The conference will help you think through what you need to do so that you don’t run out of money as you age and can enjoy the kind of life you deserve.”
Topics presented at the conference include living on a budget, planning for increased health costs, estate planning, smart investing, financial planning for a 100-year life, and understanding Medicare and Social Security.
Those interested do not have to be AARP members or even of retirement age to attend the conference.
