Back Door Bake Shop Announces Summer Schedule

The summer baking class at the University of Hawai‘i Maui College (UHMC) Culinary Arts Program is busy again this year preparing delectable baked goods for the popular Back Door Bake Shop.

“It’s a small class of four women,” says Program Coordinator and Pastry Chef Teresa Shurilla. “But they’re mighty!”

Back Door Bake Shop is held in the Pa’ina Building on the UHMC Campus. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the dates are Friday, June 28; Friday, July 12; and Friday, July 19.

Friday, June 28 is “Laminated Dough Week” – you’ll find brioche, croissant, sweet rolls, sticky buns and more. Prices range from $3.50 to $12.50.

Friday, July 12 is “French Week” when eclairs, Napoleons, Pithivier, Tarte Tatin and other French delicacies will be available.

The final Back Door Bake Shop of the summer will be Friday, July 19 and is “Petit Fours and Macarons Week” – always a crowd-pleaser.
