Wailuku Man Charged with Attacking 90-Year-Old

Bail reduction was denied for a Wailuku man charged with attacking a 90-year-old woman earlier this month.

Maui Police said 26-year-old Aaron Wilsey was arrested for allegedly breaking into a residence at 111 Kahului Beach Road on June 20, 2019 and attacking a female resident while she was asleep. The female suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack and police arrested Wilsey two days later.

Wilsey was charged with 2nd degree robbery, 1st degree burglary, 2nd degree theft and 1st degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

Defense attorneys for Wilsey argued in court Thursday that his bail should be reduced from $300,000 to $100,000, however prosecutors said he was just recently put on probation last month and was already involved in a “serious and egregious” incident. Bail was kept at $300,000 and a preliminary hearing for the case was set for July 2.
