Report: Kahului Airport Ranked “Dead Last” in US for Traveler Satisfaction
Kahului Airport has the lowest satisfaction rating compared to similar-sized airports nationwide.
Thatʻs according to a study from global marketing company J.D. Power, which ranked Kahului Airport last on a list of 16 “medium” airports throughout the country.
- The J.D. Power 2019 North America Airport Satisfaction Study measures traveler satisfaction over six factors: terminal facilities, airport accessibility, baggage claim, security check, check-in/baggage check, as well as food, beverage, and retail.
Based on those standards, Kahului Airport earned a score of 754. The category average is 803.
Honolulu International Airport ranked second to last among 27 other airports in the “large” airports category. The airport scored a 719, compared to the category average of 765.
The study consists of three airport size categories: mega, large, and medium.
Mega airports are those that host 33 million or more passengers per year. Large airports are those that have 10 to 32.9 million passengers per year, while medium airports are those that see 4.5 to 9.9 million passengers each year.
