The Kāʻanapali Ocean Resort has donated $10,000 to the Pacific Whale Foundation for the “furtherance of its research, education and conservation work to protect the ocean and marine wildlife in Maui.”

Now in its 40th year, the PWF aims to protect the ocean through science and advocacy, while “inspiring environmental stewardship.”

PWF representatives noted that the donation comes a month before the organization’s annual “Welcome Home the Whales” blessing to celebrate the beginning of whale season on Maui.

“Through the support of Kāʻanapali Ocean Resort Foundation, we will serve the next generation of environmental leaders with our education programs, continue critical partnerships with conservation stewards and collect and share data on cetaceans that inform important decisions for our ocean resources,” PWF executive director Kristie Wrigglesworth said in a press release.
