Maui Markets to “Check-Out Hunger”

Beginning Friday, grocery shoppers on Maui can lend a helping hand to Hawaiʻiʻs hungry through the annual “Check-Out Hunger” program.
The program allows customers to donate money for meals that will be provided to those in need throughout the holiday season.
During checkout, shoppers at participating locations will be given the option to feed a child breakfast for a week for $2.81, feed a senior lunch for a month for $12.43, or feed a family dinner for a week for $16.84.
This yearʻs Check-Out Hunger will be held at supermarkets on Oʻahu, Maui, and Kauaʻi from Nov. 1 to Jan. 15, and on Hawaiʻi Island from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31.

- Tamuraʻs Express on Maui
- Tamuraʻs Markets on Maui and Oʻahu
- Tamuraʻs Fine Wine & Liquors on Maui and Oʻahu
- Timeʻs Supermarkets on Maui, Oʻahu and Kauaʻi
- Big Save Stores on Kauaʻi
- Don Quijote Stores on Oʻahu
- KTA Super Stores on the Hawaiʻi Island
- Marukai Wholesale Mart on Oʻahu
- Shima’s Supermarket in Waimanalo on Oʻahu
Contributions will remain on the island on which they were collected. Donations will be made to one of the following local food banks: the Hawaiʻi Foodbank, the Maui Food Bank, Hawaiʻi Foodbank Kauaʻi Branch or The Food Basket on Hawaiʻi Island.
Since its launch in 1993, the Check-Out Hunger program has raised more than 3 million dollars.
